Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine is a Philadelphia native was raised and born there. Pam her mother is a former backing singer who was a part of Philadelphia International Records. Her father offered her a job as the curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She together with her family then relocated into the iconic. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with a vocal music major. Sullivan started singing in children's chorus as a contralto, later she joined the adult choir just a couple of years after that. Sullivan received little exposure to secular music. She relates that she was singing as a soloist at church when a person recommended signing her on the gospel label. However, she was not ready for the job. "Then McDonald's offered a competition with children of major cities. In the end, I got the chance to perform What God Wills on Showtime Apollo. The crowd was welcoming." She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday celebration at 13. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded an entire album. However, this album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was her producer for a few songs on the album she released her debut. Among them "Backstabbers" from Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott created, was very popular.
